Clubs are formed every year reflecting the interests and energy of SHDS students.  Time is set aside during the school day for a wide variety of activities, which have included the following:

Art Club is for students in grades 1 & 2 who want to do extra art projects.  Meets every other Tuesday in the Art Room.

Chess Club is for students in grades 1-6 who want to learn to play chess and play with other students. Team and tournament play is an option.  Our team is called the Day School Knights.  Meets every Wednesday in the Library.

Chorus is for students in grades 1-6.  The Chorus performs regularly at assemblies and for many other special programs.  Meets every Monday in the Music Room.

Construction Club is for students in grades

Film Club is for students in grades 4-6, who want to learn how to script, film and star in a short film.  Meets every Thursday in the Library in the spring.

Science Club is for students in grades 4-6 who have an interest in and enthusiasm for science.  It provides opportunities for inquiry-based science exploration in a hands-on setting in the areas of life science, physical science, earth science and the science of the human body.  Meets every other Thursday in Mrs. Hull’s room.

Student Council is the official governing body of SHDS students.  Elections are held in early fall.  Officers are elected by vote of students in grades 1-6.   Class representatives are elected by grades 2-6.  Student Council meets every other Friday in the Library.
