General Studies Teachers (full-time and part-time)

Syracuse Hebrew Day School seeks dynamic and passionate teachers to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in teaching a variety of subjects within the general studies curriculum, including English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that align with curriculum standards and meet the needs of all learners
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback to students and parents
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and units of study
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Previous experience teaching general studies
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum standards and instructional best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation and benefits:

  • $40-50K/annually
  • PTO, including most Jewish holidays and many school breaks

Substitute Teachers

Syracuse Hebrew Day School seeks dynamic and passionate educators to fill occasional absences as Substitute Teachers from K to 5th grade–in both General studies and Judaic Studies. We desire candidates with teaching experience in an elementary school setting. Education degree is preferred.

Substitute teachers will be responsible for:

  • Demonstrating an engaging teaching style and strong problem-solving skills
  • Managing a classroom effectively
  • Communicating effectively with students, other teachers, and the school administration
  • Implement a teacher’s plans to achieve lesson goals
  • Complying with school policies and procedures
  • Active supervision of students, if assigned, during recess and lunch
  • Taking attendance and preparing a report for the teacher
